Description

The workshop will introduce the three multidisciplinary projects:

  • DERISC: Deep learning based Extreme Rainfall and flood warnIngs through Seamless foreCasting. BELSPO-funded BRAIN-BE project, partners: RMI, KU Leuven, VUB, VMM.
  • EXPRIMA: Probabilistic nowcasting and forecasting of extreme precipitation for impact-based warning systems. BELSPO-funded FED-tWIN position between RMI and KU Leuven
  • Flash floods within the RMI-SPW cooperation agreement

Their common goal is to improve and integrate weather forecasts with impact-based warning systems for extreme precipitation and floods. After introducing these projects, our stakeholders have the floor.

We invite and welcome associated stakeholders and national and international experts to strengthen our cooperation, guide our research and shape our products related to precipitation observation, forecasts and warnings. Such a setup will allow the stakeholders to communicate their needs and the scientists to collect information to better meet these needs with our research and future operational products.
