Description

The current installment of the 'background in solar physics' seminar series will focus on coronal phenomenology. The presentation will focus on important features of the solar corona and concepts that help us understand what we're seeing. A brief history to coronal observations and the instruments that help us observe the corona will be presented, before focusing on different features as they're seen in different temperatures.

This seminar is the fourth of a series of seminars on the basics of solar and heliospheric physics, aimed at our ROB, IASB and RMI colleagues who have a sound knowledge of physics and mathematics but never had a formal education in solar and heliospheric physics. These talks will provide an overview of the most important aspects without going in too much detail. References for further reading are provided.
