This series of lectures is set up in support of the newly established solar research group at the Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.

In his talk on sunspots, Jan will discuss the history and features of sunspots, characteristics and classification of sunspot groups, the sunspot number, and the history and properties of sunspot cycles.
The second part of the lecture will be covered by Christophe. He will speak about the radio astronomy instrumentation that we have in the Humain station and how these observations feed the solar research and space weather capabilities of the STCE.
