Description

Background

The "Precursors for aerosols and ozone " project is developing long-term climate data records of the GCOS Precursors for Aerosol and Ozone Essential Climate Variable. Precursors include the short-lived atmospheric trace gases: nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), formaldehyde (HCHO), and ammonia (NH3). Working in close liaison with climate data users, the project focuses on building consistent/harmonised long term multi-satellite mission climate data records from satellite instruments including GOME, SCIAMACHY, GOME-2, OMI, TROPOMI, IASI, and MOPITT.

Workshop objectives

The purpose of ESA’s ECV Precursor CCI User Workshop is to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and impact of satellite dataproducts for research and applications in air quality, climate change, and health. The key objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Inform users by providing insights into the strengths, limitations, and potential applications of ECV Precursor project data products.
  • Engage with the chemistry-climate community to gather valuable user feedback, ensuring that future data developments align with scientific and operational needs.

Why attend?

This workshop is a unique opportunity to:

  • Gain insights into the strengths, limitations, and applications of ECV Precursor satellite data products developed under ESA’s Climate Change Initiative programme, specifically NO2, HCHO, CHOCHO, SO2, CO and NH3
  • Engage directly with data providers and fellow researchers in the chemistry-climate community.
  • Share your feedback to help shape the development of future data products tailored to your needs.
  • Collaborate with leading scientists and decision-makers to maximize the impact of satellite data in environmental research and policy.

Your expertise and input are invaluable in ensuring that these data products serve the scientific community effectively. Don’t miss this chance to contribute, connect and innovate!
