By Plane

The closest airport is Brussels-National Airport (Zaventem). From Brussels-National airport (Zaventem) follow these instructions to get to the ROB:

Plane and car

Quit the airport and follow Brussels (A0). Do not take the Ring, cross it. You will see a Holiday Inn hotel at your right and later the NATO Buildings.

Continue on the Leopold III-boulevard till you get a "T"-form crossroad. Take left and follow the "General Wahis" boulevard direction place Meiser.

Continue straight on the boulevard. It changes of name along, being the Reyers, the rand Whitlock, the St Michel, the Louis Schmidt and finally the Generaal Jacques Blvd. At the end of it follow the "bois de la Cambre / Terkamerenbos".

Enter the "bois de la Cambre / Terkamerenbos".
Once in the woods, take the 2nd exit to avenue De Fré. At the third traffic light, take left to the avenue Houzeau.

Continue to come on the "Ringlaan/avenue Circulaire", where you will find the main entrance (Ringlaan 3).

Plane and train

From the airport take the train direction Brussels-North and and read below for the remaining of your trip with the Bus and Ground Transportation.

 

Using Bus and Ground Transport

From the Central Station

At the Brussels central railway station take bus 38 of the STIB/MIVB in the direction 'Héros/Helden' Get off at the stop 'Houzeau'. From there onwards follow the road up the slope to the Observatory (+/- 5 min. walk).

From the south Station

Take Tramway route 4 direction P STALLE destination STALLE P. You arrive at stop HEROS (15 min.). Walk to stop HEROS for transfer. Take Bus route 43 direction OBSERVATOIRE.

From St.-Job Station

From this station you will have to walk 10 min.: Follow the "avenue J.P. Carsoel", the "avenue de mercure" and the "avenue circulaire" till you are in front of the main entrance. One can access this station from North Station and is on the Mechelen-Halle line.

With the Car

Coming from the E19 speedway

From E19 Antwerpen - Brussels

Take Exit 18, Ruisbroek-Drogenbos.
Take left towards Ukkel-Uccle. You arrive in the Stallestraat. Follow this road and pass several traffic lights, a round point and some more traffic lights until you arrive in the Brugmanlaan. At this point you should turn right towards the De Frélaan. (Pass a little square where a Supermarket GB is).
Follow this road until you pass another supermarket Delhaize and then turn right towards the Houzeaulaan. At the end of this avenue you arrive at the Ringlaan, where you will see the main entrance of the Royal Observatory just in front of you (Ringlaan 3)

Coming from E19 Paris-Bergen to Brussels

Follow the direction towards Ring West, Gent-Brussels. Take exit n° 18, Ruisbroek-Drogenbos. Take right towards Ukkel-Uccle. You arrive in the Stallestraat. Follow this road and pass several traffic lights, a round point and some more traffic lights until you arrive in the Brugmanlaan. At this point you should turn right towards the De Frélaan. Coming from the E40

Coming from E40 Liege-Leuven to Brussels

Take the highway until you arrive in Brussels. Stay on the left side of the road and follow zuid (towards Montgomery).

Continue straight forward (Reyerslaan, Louis Schmidtlaan, Generaal Jacqueslaan) until the Terkamerenbos. At the round point, enter left the forest. Take the second exit towards the De Frélaan. At the 3rd traffic lights take left the Houzeaulaan.
At the end of this avenue you arrive at the Ringlaan, where you will see the main entrance of the Royal Observatory just in front of you (Ringlaan 3)

Coming from the E411

Coming from E411, Namur to Brussels

Passing the exit Jezus-Eik, follow the highway and drive in the tunnel. Take the first exit Ouderghem. At the 3rd traffic lights go left and take the Vorstlaan in the direction of Bosvoorde. Drive approximately 2 km and at the hippodrome of Bosvoorde take left the Terhulpsesteenweg.

Continue until a cross point in the form of a T. Turn right and take the Waterloosesteenweg. At the 2nd traffic lights go left and take the De Frélaan. At the 3rd traffic lights go left and take the Houzeaulaan.
At the end of this avenue you arrive at the Ringlaan, where you will see the main entrance of the Royal Observatory just in front of you (Ringlaan 3)
