Description
The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) operates a 24/7 Regional Space Weather Centre that was established in November 2022. South Africa through SANSA has been designated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) as a Regional Space Weather Centre in 2018. The role of a Regional Centre is to support the four ICAO Global Centres in the provision of space weather information to the aviation sector. As a designated regional centre, it is important to collaborate with the other ICAO designated global centres to ensure a consistent and reliable service. SANSA will share experiences of establishing and running a 24/7 operational Centre as well as meeting the ICAO requirement standard as a service provider. The importance of regional partnership for ground-based instrumentation network expansion within the African region will also be outlined. SANSA will present the integration process of a regional centre into the global centres.
