Description
The Horizon Europe SPEARHEAD (SPEcification, Analysis & Re-calibration of High Energy pArticle Data) project provides a suite of open-access tools to enhance the analysis of high-energy particle observations that are critical for heliophysics research. The toolkit includes:
- Bowtie – executes bow-tie analysis on instrument energy channels to calculate geometric factors and effective energies using CSV response tables.
- FDAT (Forbush Decrease Analysis Tool) – a graphical interface for detecting ICME/Forbush decrease events, applying ForbMod models, and producing both visual and statistical outputs.
- G4VM (GEANT4 Virtual Machine) – delivers pre-configured GEANT4 simulations for instruments such as SOHO/Chandra EPHIN and Solar Orbiter HET, featuring realistic GDML models and spacecraft shielding.
- VDA (Velocity Dispersion Analysis) – streamlines velocity dispersion analysis of Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) events through customizable, ready-to-use Jupyter Notebook workflows.
These tools, accessible via the SPEARHEAD GitHub repository and JupyterHub, enable more accurate dataset calibration, deeper event characterization, and advanced simulation workflows, empowering the space weather and heliophysics community.
