Social Events

All social events are included in the registration fee for participants of the 2nd BINA workshop. Accompanying persons are welcome to participate in the social events too as long as the maximum number of participants in the social events is not exceeded (decision based on 'first come, first serve' principe). Accompanying persons need to pay if they want to attend the workshop dinner (50 € per person).


Tour of Brussels

When:
Thursday October 11, 2018 (14:30 - 18:00)

What to expect:
A guided bustour to discover all aspects of Brussels: the diversity of the city, the extremes and the contradictions, the problems and the challenges, and dynamics of Brussels. This tour will show the splendor of the Cinquantenaire, the green of the Brussels parks, the office developments in the Leopold district and the North Quarter, the urban dynamics around the channel and the popular districts like Matonge or Saint-Josse. It also includes a walk (in the area of the Grand Place) and a coffee/tea break (one drink for free).

How to register for this event:
Please specify during the online registration:
   - if you want to participate,
   - if you have accompanying persons that want to participate as well.
Please insert the total number. Note that the bus has a limited capacity (45 people) so the registration will be done on a "first come, first served" basis.

Access from venue:
We will gather at the main entrance of the Royal Observatory of Belgium at 14:15. The bus tour will start from there at 14:30. The bus will bring us back to the Royal Observatory of Belgium at 18:00 but will make a stop near tram stop "Louiza" (close to Argus Hotel Brussels), tram stop "Defacqz" (close to Made In Louise and Neufchatel Belgian Hotel), and tram stop "Vleurgat" (close to Hotel Barsey by Warwick ) on the way back.


Tour of the Royal Observatory Of Belgium

Thursday October 11, 2018 (18:15 - 19:15)

What to expect:
Guided tour of the Royal Observatory of Belgium. This tour will include the Meridian room and its museum, the heliometer of Jean-Charles Houzeau de Lehaie, and the domes of the 45-cm telescope and the 1.2-m Ukkel Schmidt telescope.

Please insert the total number. Note that the guided tour has a limited capacity (50 people) so the registration will be done on a "first come, first served" basis.

Access from venue:
The guided tour starts at 18:15 in the Meridian Room of the the Royal Observatory of Belgium and ends at 19:15 at main entrance of Royal Observatory of Belgium.


Workshop dinner

When:
Thursday October 11, 2018 (19:30 - 22:30)

Price:
Free for registered participants of the 2nd BINA workshop
50 € per person for accompanying persons

What to expect:
An appetizer, a three-course menu and a coffee or tea at the restaurant Relais St. Job (1 Place de Saint Job, 1180 Uccle) are included.

How to register for this event:
Please specify during the online registration:
   - if you want to participate ("workshop dinner for participant"),
   - if you have accompanying persons that want to participate too ("workshop dinner for accompanying person").
The restaurant can host at maximum 50 people.

Access from venue:
We will gather at the main entrance of Royal Observatory of Belgium at 19:15 to walk together to the restaurant (walk of ~10 minutes). We will walk back from the restaurant to the main entrance of the Royal Observatory of Belgium at 22:30. The participants who do not want to walk are requested to arrange their transport themselves.
